Fastnachts!............
It's Fastnacht Day here and I'm being a piggy. MMMMMMMMMMMMM. I've never had these before, I didn't even know what they were till I saw the ad in the paper and asked the Bear what they were. He chuckled, because there are so many traditions here that are totally foreign to me, and explained that they were traditionally made on Shrove Tuesday to use up the fat in the house, which was forbidden during Lent. Wow. Gives a whole new meaning to Fat Tuesday.
I was only gonna buy a couple, but they just looked so good that I went a little silly and got a dozen. Perhaps I shall share them with Harold. :-)
Today I got 2 books in the mail. I so love to get stuff in the mail, and of course, I love to buy books, so this is like Heaven to me. I got The Queen's Fool - by the author of The Other Boleyn Girl, which I read for a reading group and absolutely loved. The other book shall remain a secret for now because I may be using it for a project will involve a surprise for my fellow Princessa - la Debarooski. ~~sneaky grin~~ heehee. More on that as it evolves.
It's snowing - has been all day. It's not amounting to much, the roads are just wet. It's these big lazy flakes that are just drifting down like they're deciding on the way where they want to land. It's a lovely day to sit inside, read a book and knit a sweater. And that's exactly what I shall do. I've found a use for those little cinammon hearts that were left over from V-Day - I dropped a few in my coffee and it's quite delicious. And later tonight I believe I will have a Sopranos marathon, since the new season starts in a week and I really need to get caught up on the previous four.
Oh, my word, the guy across the street is on his porch in shorts and a t-shirt. Hey, jackass, it's snowing!
